More Machining in the Same Production Time
The recent evolution of the Edgecam CNC software means manufacturers can achieve more machining in the same production time.
Edgecam users from around the UK saw live machining demonstrations at Mazak’s European Technology Centre, showing how a revolutionary new Waveform Roughing Strategy in Edgecam 2012 R1 cuts cycle time from 63 minutes to just 18 minutes, and improves the metal removal rate from 30cm3 per minute to 135cm3 per minute.
The demonstrations were part of the “Innovation For Productivity” event, run in partnership between Mazak, Sandvik Coromant, CG Tech Vericut, 3Dconnexion and Edgecam. -
Catcher Technology, which makes aluminum-alloy casings
Catcher Technology, which makes aluminum-alloy casings, is expanding capacity at its factories in southern Taiwan and in Suqian, eastern China by adding CNC machines for making unibody casings, according to industry sources.
Catcher will double the capacity at its factory in southern Taiwan, the sources indicated.
After Catcher's factory in Suzhou, eastern China was ordered to temporarily stop operation by the local government on October 17 due to stinky gas emissions, the company has improved pollution control at the factory and simultaneously shifted 2,000 CNC machines from the factory to the Suqian plant, the sources said.
In addition, Catcher will expand the floor space at the Suqian factory with investment of CNY134.8 million (US$21.2 million), the sources noted.
Catcher is a supplier of unibody casings for Apple MacBook Air, and Acer and Dell ultrabook models, the sources indicated.
