  • Techno, Inc. Education Systems CNC Plasma Cutting curricula available to all teachers
Techno, Inc. Education Systems is proud to announce they are making their Introduction to CNC Machining and Introduction to CNC Plasma Cutting curricula available to all teachers at no charge for the remainder of the academic year (till June 30, 2012).

The Introduction to CNC Machining provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes a brief history of manufacturing, history of CNC, introduction to GCODES, introduction to Mastercam, fixturing and clamping material on the CNC machine and running parts on the CNC.

The Introduction to CNC Plasma Cutting covers similar topics, but also includes chapters on an Introduction to the science of plasmas - what are they, how are they created and used, how do they cut and so on. There is also an extensive chapter on the safety issues in plasma cutting as well as a detailed chapter on cut quality and consumables when plasma cutting.

Both curricula provide step-by-step instructions as well as numerous photos and detailed descriptions of what to do and how to do it. The curricula are ideal for students first getting involved with CNC machining, Mastercam or CNC plasma cutting.

These curricula are also ideal aids for the instructors first getting involved with CNC.

The curricula are, of course, still available for purchase for unrestricted use without time limits. A class license with permission to reprint copies is also available.
  • CNC machining centers are growing in popularity
Flexible and highly accurate, today’s CNC machining centers are growing in popularity for both large and small woodworking shops engaged in the processing of a diverse range of materials.

The machine’s growing usage also can be linked to a number of trends, including:

    • Mass customization. Whether due to the economy or just a sign of the times, the number of manufacturers with large production runs is dwindling. The multifunction flexibility and easy setup of today’s CNC machining centers allows for batch processing of indeterminate quantities or even custom products, at an economical cost. “The repeatability, reduced setup time, the ability of the machine to run in pendulum process and the parametric capability of software are solid reasons for the use of CNC machining centers for customized processing,” said one equipment manufacturer.
